BlackBerry DTEK50 launched in South Africa

blackberry-dtek50The BlackBerry DTEK50 has launched in South Africa and is available through MTN for R6,899, or from R299 per month on contract.

Vodacom will also carry the device from this month. The network’s pricing is yet to be announced.

New contract deals for Vodacom subscribers are expected to be launched on 7 November.

Cell C and Telkom have not yet confirmed whether they will offer the DTEK50.

BlackBerry said the DTEK50 will only be sold through its carrier partners initially, but it is looking at opening it up to more sales channels.

On MTN, the DTEK50 will be priced as follows:

  • Cash price: R6,899
  • My MTNChoice 50: R299 per month
  • MTN AnyTime TopUp 100: R299 per month
  • My MTNChoice Flexi R200: R349 per month
